i could stand to be a fixture

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart self titled debut album was one of my favourites from last year, so naturally I was excited to hear their new single “Say No To Love”, which is up at streaming at Pitchfork (click link). However, after first listen I’m kind of disappointed. Love the intro, but kept thinking it would go in a different direction. Lacks a bit of punch… but I think it will be one to grow on me. For now, an old favourite.

  1. bloody awful poetry

Never really got into The Pains of Being Pure At Heart but I must say that video has convinced me to give them a shot at least. It’s sort of hazy-happy, isn’t it?

  2. I do enjoy that video. Love 16mm film. :)

  3. I really only know the one song, which is a dandy. I’m not entirely sure how I missed immersing myself in that album more, as it was on everyone’s radar. Too much music to try to keep up with, I guess.

A shame the sophomore isn’t living up to expectations.

  4. There is definitely a lot of music out there, some of it just slips through the cracks.

After numerous plays of the song, it’s growing on me. But not as immediate as their first one. Oh well.
