I’ve been having the most interesting dreams this month.
I suspect the only reason I can recall them is because I haven’t been getting that much REM sleep.
The majority of them involve running, getting lost (or losing someone), or being in a car with someone else driving. Also traveling.
When I check my dream dictionary (yes, I have one of those), all signs don’t point to good things.
Do you put much weight in dreams?
I know it’s not going to happen, but oh I wish there would be another Postal Service album.

One the assignments for my writing class this week is to bring in a “dream fragment.” Easy for me, as I keep track of those things. Only question now is which one do I bring in that won’t elicit the three-headed monster look.
Just before I woke up this morning, I had a curious dream. With a soundtrack even.
Bob Dylan’s “The Times They A-Changin’ ” was blaring in the background while we ran through a muddy field. We were England, and running to Kings Cross station. I know this, as I was holding a ticket in my hand. Then the field turned into a race track, but still mud lined, and my boots got stuck. There was also another song played on top of the Dylan. But I don’t think it was an actual song, I think they were just words I strung together in my sleep state.
I wish more of my dreams had good soundtracks.
Have any good dream fragments lately?
Let’s go to Ireland and rent a castle.
It has its own lake, so I’m sure prices are reasonable.
Who’s with me?
Actually, to be honest, I rather fancy the stone cottage. I mean, it has a red door. And who doesn’t love a colourful entry way.
Sometimes, on my lunch, I’ll plan holidays I’ll never go on.
What do you do on yours? Besides eat, of course.
had a nightmare last night.
it wasn’t simple fractions, but word problems.
i had to solve them traveling in a raft down the river with my hands tied.
i don’t recall how it ended, just remember trying to force myself awake.
please, please, anything but word problems!
had any weird dreams lately?
I was a bit bummed to find out I’d be missing Telekinesis play the Biltmore with label mates Superchunk next month. It’s the one weekend I will not be in the city. Clearly, must consult all concert listings before making plans next time.
The lyrics to this song are quite minimal, still catchy, as is the beat.
Plus, I too went to Tokyo in my dreams. So I can relate.
p.s. This totally made my day. Especially the line about hang gliding.

I had a dream last night that there was a secret kitchen in my apartment, and it was filled with homemade cookies (M&M to be exact) and granola bars (apple). Then I woke up, famished, and very disappointed that I did not have a secret kitchen.
Even my dreams are telling me I need to bake more.
Or….or they are telling me I need to go to a homemade bakery? A trip to Solly’s is on the list for today.
What are you up to this weekend?
Song of the Minute: Moment by Moment -Wayne Petti
last night i had a dream that i was in an contemporary art gallery (much like the Tate Modern), with its inclined slate floors and white walls and i was with different sets of friends from my life. organised like a school trip or something, we wandered through the rooms, where all the art was performance.
except even though i was surrounded with friends i was alone. i’ve never had such a strong feeling like that in a dream. it was really unsettling. yet a complete accurate description of things at the moment.
this has been a really bizarre dream week for me.
well, at least its the weekend. and that means coffeehouse, lake, painting, etc.
so there’s that.
Since arriving here, almost a month ago, I have been having very disturbing dreams. Quite violent, and all around the theme of capitivity.
This, is odd for me. Yes, I have quite an active dream life, but typically the disturbing ones spread themselves out.
I’m not sure what to make of it all, but along with the violent dream life, there is a reoccurring face. He is one I have never seen before. His face is pale, his hair blondish, green eyes and his smile…well its good. And normally I can never recall faces in dreams. It is weird…
I’m reminded of the lyrics from The National’s Slow Show:
You know I dreamed about you. For twenty-nine years, before I saw you. You know I dreamed about you. I missed you for twenty-nine years…
Scary thing is, I think I know what the dream(s) mean.
I just don’t want to admit it to myself.
It was because I have started listening to music again before I sleep (Handsome Furs).
Or maybe it was food I ate (Cheese and crackers).
Or the last thing I watched on telly (The Simpsons).
Or the last page clicked to on the computer (Facebook).
But I had the strangest vignettes of dreams, this morning. I say this morning as they all happened from about 5am onwards.
In one I was getting ready for a stage production in my elementary school yard. Having a shower in the middle of a field.
In one I can recall a chase with someone sailing a boat, down the street.
In one I remember lots of stairs and then a cliff.
The others were more graphic and filled with people that well, shouldn’t have been there. And also water now that I think about it.
