pretty much

the most accurate depiction of how i have been feeling, with one minor flaw…

in no way can my eyebrows arch like that anymore.

apologies for the lack of posting, but been feeling rather poorly since i went in for the migraine treatment last week. i was expecting a dozen injections or so. it ended up being 47. i’m still healing from the bruising, and on-top of the injection pain, i’ve had daily migraines,  so i’m hoping the tide will start to change soon. they told me it’d take up two weeks before i know if the drug is working.

it will be September soon, and that means a new year (yes, my year starts in fall), and i’m trying to decide what i want to do with this blog.

considering doing more video posts (besides the one per year), but keeping them short, and succinct.

what do you think? words, music and video?

plus, my film editing skills could use a dusting.

goodnight smiling jack

letter for the history books.

One may not agree with his political beliefs or the direction his party sought out for Canada and its people (I did), but you cannot deny the impact he had on Canadians; his unshakable optimism, the vigor he brought to each cause, and the trust and hope he gave the youth of this country. It crossed party lines.

currently…

quite proud of myself for braiding and curling my own hair. it’s harder than it looks. and for anyone who knows me knows my hair is typically bone straight, so it’s nice to see a loose curl. the occasion? another wedding to attend this weekend, and tonight a party at Edible BC. lots of yummy food, i’m sure.

falling in love again with The Naked and Famous. one of my favourite albums of the year.

contemplating putting a shelf together i picked up at IKEA yesterday.

glad i decided to sign up for another writing class this fall.

wondering what to have for late lunch so it won’t spoil my dinner. probably fish tacos.

wishing all Saturdays were this leisurely.

currently…you are?

collectible collectibles

I know I’ve abandoned my “7 random photos” posts but that is because I use Tumblr so much, it was starting to get a bit repetitive for me to post heaps of pictures here. I have however found a new rabbit hole I’d love to introduce you to…

Pinterest.

My page is here.

It’s a virtual inspiration board. If you’re anything like me and you collect photographs and links from the web, and use them for other projects, but quickly forget where the original source was, this is a great site for you. Even if you just like to be inspired by beautiful things. There is a board for everything. I just learned of the site, so my page is a bit sparse, but something I know I’ll use in the future. Also, a nice procrastination tool when you need a bit of a break. The one downside, you have to link it to either your Twitter of Facebook account. I was a tad annoyed at this, however, you don’t have to register to view the site.

Other links of note you’ve found recently?

i wonder what a grape cherry would taste like?

I’m addicted to Pluots.

Have you tried this delicious hybrid fruit?

A combination of a plum and an apricot, it’s really the perfect amount of sweetness. I will admit to being a bit leery of hybrid fruit after tasting a Grapple (grape/apple). Thankfully, Pluots taste nothing like them. Bonus – also fun to say.

If you could combine two fruits, what would they be and what would you call the creation?

cable or botox?

I was thinking about getting cable at the start of next month. Primarily for the Food Network, as some of their shows are hard to find online. Yet I was wobbling back and forth as it is so bloody expensive, and just not a necessity for me. Still, I was still saving a bit for it just in case.

Then I went to visit the neurologist on Tuesday and we decided drugs were not working. 6 days out of the week I’ve had a migraine, for months, so I’d say, no, the drugs weren’t working.

My next option? Botox.

Between 12-20 injections; forehead, temples, head and neck.

The drug itself cost $400 and then there is a $150 “injection fee” and treatment lasts 2-3 months – if it works.

If it does, after a few treatments there is a possibility my migraines will go away. If it doesn’t? Well apparently that’s my last option, so I’m really hoping it does.

So, my cable fund is going to my migraine treatment. Unless of course my health insurance comes back and tells me the experimental treatment is covered.

In that case I’ll be expressionless in my living room watching Chopped.

welcome to the working week

I love coming into work on Monday and finding notes taped to my computer monitor. Today I found…

Till seems broken?

Please research how to properly unroll birch scrolls.

Students haven’t been running things through the till – using it as a money drawer instead.

Pocket watch still missing. However, cabinet door fixed. Still seems wonky?

Yet, this one is my favourite:

down in the valley

Thinking that all I really want to do is just head down to the record store, but not wanting to deal with the crowds from the Celebration of Light, we’re going to drive to Harrison instead. Shall rent some bikes and cruise through the trails. It’s a warm enough day for these parts anyway.

Need some new music for the car, and thankfully I have good friends that pass along such gifts.

“Down in the Valley” – The Head and the Heart

What are you listening to these days?
