in the painted woods
is where i planted sunflowers
for you.
i waited
but the seasons
could not.
Driving through Minnesota and North Dakota I saw fields full of dead sunflowers.
Surprisingly it was the most peaceful thing I’ve seen on the trip thus far.

What a striking image to go with the striking words.
fields full of dead sunflowers – that has got to be the most evocative phrase I have heard in a long time.
While I would be brain dead from those long days on the road, obviously long roads trip agree with you. If long straight roads leave you time to allow your mind to drift, I can’t wait to hear what you come up with driving through Saskatchewan.
Thank-you, Dale. :)
I think we’re a bit brain dead now, but the Inn in Jasper is quite amazing, we won’t have any trouble relaxing!
