cabin fever

I can’t take the snow anymore. Or the cold, cold, cold weather we’ve had all month. We just got another foot two days ago, and its a blizzard outside again.

I don’t ever remember being this irritated by the weather before. I am alone here?

The funny this is, I can handle snow when its not -20C outside. That weather is just not nice to be out in.

I’m just restless, and wish that would go away. Perhaps because I know I have so much to do, the littlest things are an annoyance.

I’ll just start wishing for rain, and then all will be well. Because rain heals all.

Fact.

Have I mentioned how much I love watching Ace of Cakes? Seriously. Its divine. They just made a Millennium Falcon, which was quite brilliant.

This was floating about today, and I know I’ve played along before but thought I’d give it a go again. Hit shuffle on your media player and for each question hit next.

a room for my stuff

Is all I want.

I watch these shows on television filled with excess and decadence and while its nice eye candy, its not what I want, or need. I just need a room for my stuff, with a desk, some shelves, a table for my record player and a corner for my easel.

I opened up my closest today, in an attempt to start packing again. My closest is filled with boxes, marked Kingston, Vancouver, England, Sarnia, etc. Ghosts of my past stacked neatly in colour coded rubbermaids. As I was picking through my things, my eye caught a Polaroid, stuck between a stack of books and some kitchen supplies. I can’t have pictures in frames, for the most part, because glass breaks in a move (lesson learned). It was a picture of my mom and I. I couldn’t have been more than three.

The picture made me smile, but also made me sad. I’m not sure why, but perhaps because as much as I hate to admit it, I’d be nice to have someone scoop you up in their arms hold you and tell you everything is going to be alright. Sure your life may be a series of boxes, friends are shattered all over the globe like confetti, but things could be worse and you just found all your oil pastels, charcoal pens and your old sketch book.

I guess everyone needs a pat on the head every now and again. Today is just my day.

giving in

The snow is completely undisturbed as it falls on the pavement outside my window and I have this urge to run out wreck the calm.

And after I’ve made my tracks in the snow, I’d look up at the stars and say hey, do you miss me?

Me either.

come on over to my house, i’ll make you buckets of tea

So I have a lead on a sublet.

However, I think its too pricey, for a sublet…but it is furnished, and includes utilities, etc. They said they were looking for a quiet tenant, and I’m not too loud, but I’d hate to have to listen to music with headphones all the time, as there is baby in the ground floor apartment. It looks okay, and apparently its located at the base of the mountain, and the view was pretty gorgeous. Still, I’m going to hold off a week and see if my ad gets any more responses. I’d hate to go with the first place, plus its not available until the first week of March, which would make my hotel bills gigantic whilst waiting.

I’m going to see Inkheart tonight. I know, films with Brendan Fraser should be avoided, but the premise looks too whimsical to pass up on. A bookbinder who when he reads aloud, can bring characters from books into the real world. When I saw the trailer (I haven’t read the books) it reminded me of a short story I wrote when I was in first year university. Plus, I’m in the mood for movie theatre popcorn.

Wow, I’m incredibly boring today. Ah well. I’ll stop myself before I share what I had for lunch.

Song of the Minute: Lovesick – Grand Duchy

right then

So I get this letter in the mail today about my health insurance. After a “review of my application” they’ve approved me, but with Exclusions for: Back/spine, Headaches/migraines and Vertigo.

Basically, anything I’ve ever been treated for.

That is so helpful, isn’t?

Fuckers.

So glad I’m paying that monthly premium for when I get a cold, but not when I fall or anything.

Today better upswing.

it’s a very dangerous thing to do exactly what you want

You know that feeling you get when there is just too much to do, like a combination of overwhelmed and anxious and in order to deal with this you kind of just shut down a bit?

That’s kind of how I felt this weekend. I have so much to do, but I just could not focus on the important tasks. So I distracted myself by being lazy with friends, and painting.

Although I did plan and book things for my move, it really was not enough. Maybe I need to write a list out, because keeping it in my head is just not working.

Yeah.
