let the needle of the compass swing

Today I was working with a collection done by these illustrators.
Apparently around the office its the one least liked by the staff. Something to do with the artists backgrounds. I approach all art purposely disengaging myself from the biographies of the artists (in the beginning) and try to just absorb the work itself. It really [...]

not again

My ceiling is leaking again, this time in more places than last and it may have destroyed a few library books…hopefully they’ll dry okay. The thing that woke me up was the noise of water hitting a shopping bag I have on the floor, however I can’t place where the other drops are landing [...]

routine

Its takes awhile for my body to get into a routine. I remember a trainer at my gym once telling me it takes exactly 21 days. I have no idea if that’s true. Sounds about right though.
All I know is I wish I could take my blanket cape into the office. My neck gets cold [...]

the great escape

I’ve been persuaded by a friend for attend The Great Escape musical festival in Brighton the third weekend in May. Over 200 artists across 25 different venues, quite fabulous if you ask me. We’ll be going down on the Saturday – check out the line-up for that day. I’m well excited (just for you Ali) [...]

i believe archival numbering may steal my eyesight

Well first day of placement went alright. Very, very quiet in the archives (I know, who would have thought!) and my eyes hurt to blink from squinting and writing tiny digits onto artwork.
I am working with an interesting collection, I’m hesitant to write the name down just in case anything pops up in a Google [...]

lacing fingers threw the notches in your spine

Exactly a year ago today I moved out of my apartment in Kingston.
I remember on my last night after my friends had left, sitting on the hardwood floor listening to music and crying just a wee bit. Okay, perhaps more than a wee bit.
That feels like a lifetime ago. So much has happened since, most [...]

i just need you to sing for me tonight

Yesterday while taking in a few pints at the pub my drinking partner turned to me and did a Natalie Portman in Garden State – you have to listen to this song, it’ll change your life.
Are there any songs that have changed your life? I don’t know if it changed my life, but it certainly [...]

how does that go again?

Is it beer before liquor you’re in the clear. Liquor before beer you’ve never been sicker?
No, I think I have that backwards.
I’m forcing myself to eat soda crackers so I can at least take an advil and then shuffle off to bed.
Hangover cures?

beware of the toast that has no ears

These days I find myself reading more, and writing less.
Listening to the lyrics and not so much the music.
And realizing that sometimes its not worth the fight.
Its not even 4 and I’m getting ready for the night, as all my plans seem to have piled on top of each other. Meeting a friend in an [...]
