Perhaps the most annoying part of going through airport security these days is the removal of ones shoes. Its a task I dread, although I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find a separate part for just shoes. Normally its all lumped in with the carry-ons and then there is always a bottleneck of people climbing over one another while retrieving their bags. Well not this morning. Almost made up for the fact that I have to check my luggage again when I land in New York. Bah!
I must admit I spend a lot of time people watching while at the airport. This morning I’m watching the Starbucks staff refill the sweet n’ low and I am very tempted to go and steal a handful. I shall resist though and go back to fixing my playlist. I mentioned last week I’m heavily addicted to The National – Alligator at the moment. Can’t get it off repeat. Yet I think I need to make a switch to something more upbeat for this next leg.
Alright, I’m just rambling now to keep my fingers moving so they don’t fall off. My book is calling me. Hope everyone has a grand Monday! Is it a holiday for most?

I don’t think it’s generally a holiday in Canada – just for government employees.
The Vancouver security guys were ALL OVER my feet yesterday! I had to sit in a chair whilst they repeated scanned my sock feet. Then I told them I have an ankle plate and they decided I was too gimpy to be a terrorist.
You’re almost there!

I hate the people who wait until they’re at the very front of the security line before they have to be personally asked to remove their belt and shoes. There are signs everywhere and the make announcements on the PA every two minutes! Maybe I look like an overeager tool going through the line in my stocking feet, shoes and belt in one hand, hiking up my beltless pants with the other, but at least I’m not holding up the bloody line!! Clearly this is a sensitive issue for me! ;)
I love airport people watching, though.
Bon Voyage!

Barb: Hahaha!! Sorry, but I’m trying to imagine you sitting whilst the scanned your sock feet. Here’s hoping you don’t have trouble on the return journey.
Ali: I’m in totally agreement. I looked like a fool all day hiking up my pants, as I decided to put the belt back on to go through more check points would be useless.
Mel: Hehe! That’s the way to steal them! Hope you had a lovely and relaxing day and enjoyed the turkey dinner!

Oh yeah, everytime I travel I have to remove my shoes, for the last few years at least. I was however bummed that I didn’t get the fingerprint scan at JFK, everyone else did. Well I guess its a good thing but still, looked cool.
