i kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train

This is where I live while at my parents house. My little corner of the couch, wrapped in beige, Sam at my feet. Snapped by my mom at lunch, in between me attempting to cough up my lung. This “in transit” business caught up with me. Thankfully couch naps rule and produce the best dreams. [...]

so its okay to eat fries from a truck but not ice cream? incredible

Toronto was much fun.
Lots of walking, excellent conversations and food. Oh the glorious cookies we happened upon this weekend. Yum! One dessert downside – see the yellowish tart in the pictures below? What do you think is the filling? I’ll tell ya its not lemon, much to our disappointment. Although Andrea does look as though [...]

almond cookies rule

I’ve been away in the land of tea and no television for so long I missed this gem. Thanks to Todd and Andrea for the reminder.

my body is drunk but my mind is sober

Something I said five years ago but my friends still enjoy quoting it back to me. Apparently I’m quotable. Ali has a notebook somewhere full of random crap and I fear for the day when she writes her book.
One of the things that struck me most about today was how quiet Toronto is in comparison [...]

you mean you can read minds?

It really is an art trying to figure out another persons shower. Hell, I have enough trouble trying to get the dial perfect on my own. I find “bathtub showers” dangerous because you have to pull the stopper thing and then get out of the way. Its just too much coordination for my morning off [...]

yada, yada, yada

not feeling very blog-like lately. i can’t think with the sound of the television blaring. i believe my parents are going deaf. i thought i might have missed tv a wee bit. turns out, no. i wish i could blow up all the talking heads. every five minutes the same thing, over and over. i’m [...]

we’re the heirs to the glimmering world

Take all your reasons and take them away
To the middle of nowhere, and on your way home
Throw from your window your record collection
They all run together and never make sense
But that’s how we like it, and that’s all we want
Something to cry for, and something to hunt
so jetlagged but unable to sleep. at least music [...]

Cuz one day when she goes, she’s gone

My dog doesn’t recognize me. Or if she does she’s playing coy.
My parents are watching CNN.
My brother welcomed me at the airport.
And there’s no snow.
Its like I’ve stepped into another universe. Except I still can’t work the remote, so some things never change.

I finished reading Stephen King’s Blaze today on the [...]

purple, pulsing and painting

Perhaps the most annoying part of going through airport security these days is the removal of ones shoes. Its a task I dread, although I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find a separate part for just shoes. Normally its all lumped in with the carry-ons and then there is always a bottleneck of people [...]

we’ll run like we’re awesome, totally genius

Best thing about airports – movable sidewalks.
Best thing about staying in a hotel by yourself (besides getting to jump on the bed) – having an actual bathtub. Woot!
I left Newcastle at 5.30 got into Gatwick Airport around 10, now nestled in me bed waiting for that 4.30am wake up call. I should arrive back home [...]
