New Space

There were a lot of different reasons why I chose to shut down my last blog. None of which are really worth going into detail about now, because, well, time moves on and what’s done is done. Plus, I can’t have more the one nemesis. If your name starts with K and you live down the street from my childhood home and happen to be reading this now….you are still my nemesis and I feel perfectly fine holding out irrational dislike towards you. Copycat.

Anyway, moving on. Everything here will pretty much remain the same as it worked over at the old blog. I’d still be at blogger, but I had template woes, so figured maybe a new look might help move things along. Still learning the ropes on wordpress though.

I can’t promise you a multitude of posts to come, as the next month is going to be a little busy. Good news, I’ve started packing and yes, Ali and Todd you were right, I will need more than one bag. Stop gloating, Ali. I’m still undecided over the roll vs fold packing technique. Do you find one works better? I find more people tend to lend towards the roll, to optimize space, however I am not sold. Perhaps a hybrid approach is needed.

Hope everyone is doing fabulous.

  • Allison … I am so happy to hear of your return. Best of luck solving WordPress, can’t say I know too much about it. As for having a copycat, sorry to hear about that – though I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It was a little odd to see a new iduality.blogspot go up so quickly. Oh, well.

  • Thanks Will, I appreciate that. The only big difference about WordPress is you can’t have a full custom template, hopefully the other kinks will work themselves out soon.

I know the iduality.blogspot went up the same day I deleted it! Someone with a passion for cricket took over :)

  • Oh you must roll. Must!! It gives you way more space and decreases wrinkles. That’s my two cents anyway. But, no matter how you pack I will still feel victorious because you’re not just taking a backpack. ;)

I’m very excited for the new blog and look forward to once again having something to read with my morning tea!

  • Yay! Al’s back on the blogs and all is right with the world!

Love the new look! Those are the finest flying buttresses I have ever witnessed. Honest and for true. I don’t know why that cricket dude was so keen to steal your url – he hasn’t done anything with it. Copycat.

I tried rolling for the first time ever this last trip and Ali is right, you really can squeeze so much more stuff in.

  • Ali: You’re never gonna let me forget that, eh? Ahh! I just forgot, I don’t even have enough room to take my hiking backpack, I forgot to place it along the bottom…oi and vey.

I’ll try and keep you entertained with your morning tea :)

Barb: Hahaha…those are pretty fine buttresses. I have to make my way around to everyone else’s I haven’t really been keeping up. Yeah, maybe he’s waiting for something? Not sure.

Well, that’s two for rolling, I’ll give it a go. I have to repack anyways, gotta get that hiking backpack in there for when I travel.

  • Wow, nice new blog! I always go for the roll technique. I swear it saves space!! :O)

  • Thanks Mel! Alright, if you all say so…I’ll attempt the roll :)

  • Happy to see you, bleibe, reste, stay!

Your word of the day (Halcyon) is one I see but have never heard spoken aloud that I can recall. Is it because it sounds like a medication?

    Welcome back.

  • I mix the fold w/ the roll depending on the garment. Glad to have you back, it doesn’t matter if you post everyday or once a year ;)

  • Dale: Hahaha, yes it does kind of sound like a medication, you probably need to take one of them to achieve its meaning too.

Thanks Serah, I’m going with the hybrid approach. Its really unbelievable how much room sweaters take up. Pfft.

  • Love the new look. That’s a great picture for your header.

Looks as though I am going to go against the grain…folding is the only way to go. Rolling is too time consuming.

  • yay!

i will be back to read more later. i’m tired and sick and have to unpack.

  • Thanks Toccata, I really like it too. Well, I’m opting for a dual approach, as I’m with you, rolling is too time consuming.

668, hope you’re feeling better. Ugh, unpacking is horrendous too. Good luck!

  • Yippee! Glad to have you back. Looking forward to three posts a day to make up for lost time. Just kidding, but I am looking forward to some wild European adventure posts.

  • Thanks, John! Yes, I’m looking forward to some wild European adventures myself. I shall try my very best to entertain you :)

  • A mix is good. Fold and roll. I don’t know that I’ve ever only rolled, so who knows. I suppose it depends on what you’re packing.

And I smile when I think of you carrying more than one suitcase…

Also, it goes without saying, but it’s nice to have you blogging again. :)

  • You’re right Todd, depends on what is being packed. I’m rolling the smaller things thus far.

And by “smile” do you mean and wear a smug grin, with your arms folded in the I told you so position…yeah, I think that’s what I’m seeing ;P

  • Hey Al!!!

Love the new place, although the old one wasn’t too shabby either. I’m sorry to hear you had problems at blogger…best to move on for sure.

Well, glad you’re still out and about and although (like you) I won’t be around too much, I’m glad I still have your name to click on when I’m making the rounds….wouldn’t be the same otherwise.

  • haha…debbielynn…it’s been awhile since I’ve been over here on wordpress…used to have a (really pathetic) blog here someplace.
